WPAOG Parent Handbook 2020-21

12 WEST POINT ASSOCIATION OF GRADUATES OVERVIEW On behalf of the West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG), I am excited to welcome you and your cadet to West Point and honored to provide you with the 2020–2021 Parent Handbook, which we hope you will find a useful resource to better understand the Academy and your cadet’s experience. It has been a challenging year during these uncertain times, and our communities, our families, and the Academy have all been impacted. In moments like these, the Long Gray Line comes together to support one another and our nation. WPAOG is the Academy’s alumni association and foundation. We provide programs to enhance the cadet years at West Point and a range of services to graduates. WPAOG also raises funds for the Academy. On December 31, 2019, WPAOG ended our year-long celebration of a monumental milestone: 150 years of the West Point Association of Graduates. Donations to the Margin of Excellence and the West Point Parents Fund have impacted every cadet at West Point, by supporting academic conferences, capstone projects, semesters abroad, cadet internships and cultural immersion trips, competitive academic teams, graduate scholarships, co-curricular teams and clubs, and Staff Rides. Because of donor support, over the past 20 years, WPAOG has delivered over 50 completed gift-funded buildings valued at over $250 million. WPAOG will partner with you to strengthen the bonds between cadets, graduates, and parents. I also encourage you to take advantage of what WPAOG’s team in Herbert Hall offers, including monthly Parent Review e-newsletters, complimentary issues of West Point magazine (quarterly), WPAOG-hosted events such as activities during R Day, A Day, home Army Football games, Graduation, and more. Our Parent Giving Officer, Shelisa Baskerville, is a valuable resource for families throughout your time at West Point and I also encourage you to use WPAOG’s Parent Portal on our website to stay informed: WestPointAOG.org/ParentResources. We at WPAOG work to continually inspire the Corps of Cadets and connect them with the generations of heroes that preceded them. Wishing you and your cadet all the best, Todd A.
